RPG Town Take Down - Far Cry 3
RPG's
galore! While attacking the Bridge Control Outpost I was assailed by an
entire squad of RPG grenadiers. Since my purpose was to get into as
much random trouble as possible, this was fine by me. It got a bit crazy
when I realized I was just barely out of range of the RPG's. So began a
game of RPG dodge ball!
I love Far Cry 3. Personally, I think it the best of the series. The story is crazy - as is Voss. The play is dynamic. But Far Cry 3 just seems to do wandering around, looking for random opportunities to make trouble, better than any of the series. Guess that is why I still enjoy playing the game so much. This time around it is set at it's hardest level and is on outpost playback mode.
I call this mess'n with the bots. What does that mean? When you play a game a lot you begin to get a feel for what the nonplayer character (NPC) artificial intelligence (AI) can and cannot do. You also get a feel for limitations of the weapons. This helps win the campaign of course, but it offers other benefits besides. Mess'n with the bots is one them. I like to set traps for the bots using mines, C4 and even the wildlife. For instance, I know the game's 'chargers' will take off at full speed, charging at you if they detect you. So, before they are alerted to my presence I'll lay a mine or two. Then I will let them see me, making sure the trap is on a direct line between the NPC chargers and me. The chargers, well, charge after me. Hopefully setting off the mine for a nice explosion.
The best example of mess'n with the bots is a ambush set up on a back road. In the process I came into possession of a number of pirate patrol jeeps. So I use them to block the road between two large boulders. Then I set a few mines on the far side of the road block from my position. I may have thrown a C4 packet or two into the jeeps to liven up the results. Then I climbed a nearby radio tower to wait on events. A walking pirate patrol came along headed straight into the trap. The lead pirate set off a mine, sending him a hundred feet or so straight up! Here is a screen shot of him on his way to the 10th floor so to speak.

A Pirate Learns To Fly |
Notice the fender flying by on the left LOL. Maybe I should have backed up a little further. Anyway, that's mess'n with the bots.
In the RPG Town instance I was using the RPG's range limitations to have a little fun. Stepping within range. Winging a shot or two the NPC's way. Then dancing off the 'X' would invite a lively RPG barrage. Also noticed the more accurate my shots were, the more accurate were the NPC's RPG shots. Tag one solidly in the body armor and an RPG would likely be intended to tag you back. Learned that bit of AI behavior the hard way as you see in the video.
Enough jaw'n. Enjoy my mess'n with the bots in RPG Town Take Down - Far Cry 3. The video is 1080p/60fps. So don't hesitate to go full screen mode to see the RPG's in detail as they pass close by. You will catch much more action that way. There are some close shaves, at least one good nick, and some craziness in slo-mo play back.
